Senior cricket commentator and former cricketer Ranil Abeynaike has passed away, aged 57 years.
He died today (Feb. 21) at a private hospital following a heart attack.
A product of S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia, he was a veteran curator.
As an all-rounder, Mr. Abeynaike played first-class cricket for Sri Lanka, represented the SSC and also had a stint at English county cricket for Bedfordshire.
During the late 1970s, he served Capital Maharaja as an executive officer.
